The Catholic-Labor Network is dependent on interested persons sharing their activities struggles, victories and prayers with other like minded men and women of faith.

We strongly invite all those who visit this page, and who share  a common interest in issues effecting the Catholic Church and the Labor Movement to subscribe.  Occasionally, notices will be sent when this page is updated.  When important events happen, we will pass on the information through the e-mail list, and most of all, the e-mail list is a means by which we can pray and support each other.


2007 Catholic-Labor Network Gathering

February 10 & 11, 2007

Dear Friends:

Through the hard work of Tom Shellabarger of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, I want to invite you for what has become the annual Catholic-Labor Network Gathering (see page 11). The Gathering is part of the USCCB Social Ministry Gathering, and will begin with Mass at 8:00 a.m. on February 10, 2007, and conclude that afternoon at 2:00 p.m. It will be held at the Hyatt Regency on Capital Hill . On Sunday, we have meet at St. Matthew Cathedral to attend the 8:30 a.m. Mass. Following Mass, the Washington, D.C. chapter of the Catholic-Labor Network will host us for bagels and coffee.

The schedule for Saturday begins at 8:00 a.m. with Mass at the Hyatt Regency on Capital Hilll. The main celelbrant will be TBA

Following Mass, we will have two presentations. The first will be by Mr. Clayton Sinyai, a researcher for the Laborers' International Union of North America, and author of Schools of Democracy: A Political History of the American Labor Movement.

Our second presentation will be presented by representatives of the National Day Laborer Organizing Network. They will focus on the challenges faced by day laborers in our country.

During our lunch, we will be honored to have retired Congressman David Bonior, chair of American Rights at Work.

Finally, on Sunday, February 11, 2007, we will be hosted by the Washington Chapter of the Catholic-Labor Network at the 8:30 a.m. Mass at St. Matthew Cathedral, we will have coffee and pastries following the Mass.

Soon, I will be sending out letters of invitation to the 2007 Catholic-Labor Network Gathering. If, however, you are not on my mailing list:
